How to Know Your Sump Pump is Working

If you have a sump pump in your basement, be sure it is good working condition. Spring weather can bring heavy rains that could create standing water in your basement.

To test your sump pump you need to lift the float inside until it causes the pump to come on. Add some water to the area where your pump is located. If the float rises and the pump comes on it is working. If you cause the pump to come on by lifting the float, without water, release it within seconds. Having it run without water could damage it. If you test it, and it doesn’t come on, have it serviced immediately. If you prefer not to test it yourself, call us at 610-593-5129 or make an appointment and we’ll come check it for you.
