Have a Plumbing Emergency Plan at Home
March 18, 2013Leaking water heaters, washing machines, and dishwashers, or overflowing toilets, can cause a lot of damage to floors, ceilings of rooms below the leak, plus the furniture and carpet in those rooms, before you get the water turned off, the water cleaned up, and the plumber arrives to fix it.
That’s why it’s smart to do a plumbing emergency plan at home. Pretend that an in-home disaster has happened (such as a washing machine leak). Practice your plan. Turn off the water. Locate supplies (rags, mops, buckets) to clean up water from the floor as fast as possible.
