Check Downspouts, Gutters, and Drains to Avoid Water Backup and Damage
February 24, 2014With the heavy amounts of snow this winter, we already know we’re in for a soggy spring. As all the snow melts the ground gets over-saturated. Water from melting snow on the roof will run through downspouts and can pool along the foundation of your home where it can seep into your walls and cause mildew, molds, and structural damage. Take advantage of the first nice day to do a visual check to see if water is running out the downspouts and away from the house as it should. If gutters along rooflines and porches have water overflowing out of them, and if water isn’t draining properly from downspouts, they are most likely clogged. It’s essential to get rid of the clogs and direct the water away from your home.
